Example poem:
I am grizzled now and creaking
like an ancient gate, but as she perches
on my arm I feel the memories leaking
from their deep dark store; churches,
baptismal fonts and gowns of lace.
The infant fidgets with my face
besotted with my lower lip,
grasps it in her tiny grip,
the massive bull tamed, a mere twist
of the rope in its nose. Our manly hearts
so easily enslaved, freedom barely missed
in our haste to be adored, Cupid’s darts
flying through an open door.
She nuzzles at my ear, more
anguish, my infant daughter reborn
upon my arm.
